the sun never seems to shine

about

this is going to be a pretty long post but I would like to share this unexpected, happy moment with you. last year wasn’t a great year for me musically. with the first lockdown in march, i had a lot more free time on my hands. regardless of this I wasn’t able to really come up with anything I was happy with for many months. maybe it was the inability to have any real human interaction, lack of external stimuli and experiences, maybe not, there isn’t really an explanation. however, one musical idea that was born during a late night session was an ambient piece which at the time I named “the sun never seems to shine”. i probably spent a few nights on it, letting the soothing sounds just carry me through the track. i then saved it and left it there, never planned on releasing it. it was just a memoir of the loneliness of the lockdown. a few weeks ago, Alessio Bertallot, one of the most influential radio personalities and djs in Italy, announced the creation of a new show, “NecessAria”, a music installation of pure ambient music and memoirs from people who share their thoughts and memories on what music means to them. that track came back rushing to me and i decided to send it to him. well, fast forward a week and i found my name next to some of my musical heroes like brain eno, max richter and olafur arnalds in the show. i think it’s important sometimes to let go of some parts of us that we want to keep hidden and to ourselves, in this case a simple piece of music, but if set free, can only do good to our hearts. I hope this track brings a little bit of peace in your day during these tough times
